Elf Village 3rd Villager Rinshia 1/6 Scale (Vertex) Pre-Orders Open

Up for pre-order now is Vertex's 3rd villager, whose name I've seen as both Linsia and Rinshia, but we'll just go with more phonetic translation now and stick to Rinshia.  Although she's the 3rd villager, she's actually releasing after the 4th villager, Priscilla.  I really like this series, having picked up Archeyle on TOM during  her first release she really grew on me after a while and is one of my favorite figures now on my shelf. I skipped the 2nd figure in the series because she's a very bland overpriced loli figure and well no combination of those descriptors will extract money from my wallet, shelf space from my hobby room, or box storage space from my closets.  Priscilla is on order and soon I expect Rinshia to be on order as well, but I might try and wait for a TOM promotion so I can spend out my points.

(UPDATE: She went up on TOM just before the end of the Golden Week points promotion so I managed to get her for less than what I would have paid on Amiami, with EMS shipping, and a net gain in points balance. Still, I'm somewhat unhappy with TOM as of late and will update my review for them in the near future.)

She's up for order on Amiami now, with two editions (as has been the case with the entire series thus far) but I don't think the extra facial expression and scenic base really justify the increase in price on these.  Unlike previous figures in the series, there are no castoff teaser pics suggesting that her breasts can be exposed but I expect her little boob plates are just stuck on with adhesive tape as was the case with Archeyle. So, if you want to have her fully exposed on your shelf, it's likely you'll be able to, but at the very least you can remove some of her outfit as is shown in the pics if that's what you want to do.

The paint on her skin and hair for the prototype looks really nice. I love her outfit! She also has a really nice neutral cute facial expression.

The little butterfly is a great touch on the front and back of the bands connecting her hip plates. The shading, patterns, and paint gradient on her skirt (?) is really nice too, and it's great that you can have it on without really obscuring too much from behind.

Of course you can castoff her outfit quite a bit as well for a more revealing look and while I think they look cool I'm more than a little confused about the function of her garters here. What are they doing and how are they sticking to her body? Kind of a weird design from a practical standpoint but aesthetically it looks alright I guess.

Anyway, I'm excited for this! She'll be out later in the year unless society ends, otherwise just continue to enjoy pictures of her online until there's no more internet.  Save some on your device, just in case.

Date A Live - Kurumi Tokisaki - 1/7 - Lingerie Ver.- Figure Review

I'm back with another figure review! This time it's another character I know nothing about really. Honestly, I had to google her name a few times to make sure I had it right and looking at it now I'm still not entirely sure. Apparently she is from a series called Date A Live. What I do know is that Kurumi Tokisaki is a very popular character who has had a lot of merchandise and several figures, though looking back it seems that many of them were from the infamously bad and now defunct Griffon Enterprises.  More recently she has started to get figures from better manufacturers like Alter and this superlative figure from Alphamax.. Normally Kurumi appears in a red and black gothic lolita style dress that I always thought had a certain saloon girl flare to it, but here it seems we've caught her in a more intimate moment. It's quite the outfit, consisting of a corset, garter belt, stockings, bonnet, some ribbons and high-heels. She's striking a prett

Faerie Queen Elaine Standard Ver. 1/5 Scale (Native) - Figure Review

It feels like a lifetime ago that I posted a preview for this figure once it was announced by Native. The world was definitely in a different place then, and perhaps I was as well in regards to this website and also the figure hobby in general. The past year has seen a real slow down in my figure acquisitions, for budgetary reasons and also logistical problems around shipping from Japan. I did still receive a couple of figures however, and Faerie Queen Elaine based on the original character illustration by Tony Taka was one of them.  Just a heads up, in a previous NSFW review I had the castoff pics on a separate linked page but here they're just further down on this page. I remember posting the promotional shots on reddit after she was released, and there and also on MFC people were pretty indifferent to both this figure and Tony's art. They said it was boring and too simplistic, and at the time I too thought maybe this figure was a little plain, however I did not know how wr

Tokyo Otaku Mode - Shop Review

Hello again! Today I would like to do the first of what I expect will be a series of shop reviews covering the best shops to order anime figures and other goods from if you live in the United States.  There are a lot of options when it comes to shops to buy from, so I hope this information can be useful to both new and veteran collectors.  The first shop I'll be talking about is one that I've been shopping with A LOT over the past two years or so: Tokyo Otaku Mode .  My hope is to answer the following question for you: Is Tokyo Otaku Mode a good shop to order anime figures from? The things that most stand out when going to this store are the frequent TOM point promotions and the at first glance high prices of the items. I know that for a year or two after first seeing the site I would wonder about those two things. What are these TOM points, exactly? Why the heck are the prices on this site so high? Well, it turns out there's good reasons for both of those things and e
