Nippon-Yasan - Shop Review

Buckle up boys and girls because it's time and I am motivated for another shop review. This time, it's (you guessed it) Nippon-Yasan.com.  I'll cut right to the chase and say that this site is TERRIBLE, but as way of explanation I will now tell you the story of the figure I paid for in full but will never receive, and what mistakes I made along the way to bring me to the conclusion that I will never spend another dollar at this site again, and that I will also actively discourage people from doing so whenever the opportunity arises.  Part 1 - Ship Girls Poison the Mind Back in September of 2019 I decided to see what all the fuss was about with the very popular phone game, Azur Lane. I never really had an interest in Kancolle when it was popular because the designs of the ship girls didn't appeal to me, but Azur Lane had what were in my opinion better and more varied designs. On top of that, they had some really nice figures on the horizon including a pair from Alter th

Elf Village 3rd Villager Rinshia 1/6 Scale (Vertex) Pre-Orders Open

Up for pre-order now is Vertex's 3rd villager, whose name I've seen as both Linsia and Rinshia, but we'll just go with more phonetic translation now and stick to Rinshia.  Although she's the 3rd villager, she's actually releasing after the 4th villager, Priscilla .  I really like this series, having picked up Archeyle on TOM during  her first release she really grew on me after a while and is one of my favorite figures now on my shelf. I skipped the 2nd figure in the series because she's a very bland overpriced loli figure and well no combination of those descriptors will extract money from my wallet, shelf space from my hobby room, or box storage space from my closets.  Priscilla is on order and soon I expect Rinshia to be on order as well, but I might try and wait for a TOM promotion so I can spend out my points. (UPDATE: She went up on TOM just before the end of the Golden Week points promotion so I managed to get her for less than what I would have pai

Fate/Grand Order Saber Attila1/8 Scale (Good Smile Company) - Figure Review

Hey I know things have been pretty quiet this year on the site, but there has been a lot going on. Between relocating my hobby room earlier in the year, exploration into a new hobby , stupid terrible Apex Legend Battle Pass grinding, and then this global pandemic, I've really fallen off the figure photography train. That does not mean my love of figures has diminished! I just haven't had the time, and with all of my pre-orders delayed and my life in basic upheaval the hobby has been on the back-burner while things simmer down here at home.  There's still no end in sight, but I'm ready to return to the site and hopefully with some nice photographs and thoughts about some of my favorite figures.  This week we have Attila from FGO, brought to you by Good Smile Company. First things first! This was a very hard figure for me to photography. Her overall shape is that of a plus sign, which made it hard to fit her all in the frame at once in my space here. Thankfully

Azur Lane St. Louis Light Equipment Ver. 1/7 Scale (Alter) Pre-Orders Open

Finally, after many months of waiting, a figure is here that demands to be pre-ordered! Azur Lane's beautiful St. Louis has been rendered in 3 glorious dimensions and will be available from Alter, sometime during or after July 2021.  I say sometime, because as many people many know Alter is notoriously known for being late on figures so much that they are refered to in memes as "lAter. Still, there's a date so that means there's a real possibility that this amazing looking figure will be in your home soon for the low low price of 15,460 JPY after discounts from Amiami .  Also available is the standard version which if money is no object you would be a fool to not buy, but for those of us on a budget or who don't feel like the rigging is worth the extra 14k, the Light Equipment Ver. seems like the obvious choice. From the front it looks like St. Louis will display from a good range of angles. She also has a really slim profile so she'll fit

Queen's Blade Nanael Excellent Model 1/8 Scale (MegaHouse) Figure Review

Well it has been a while since my last figure review, but I'm back with another one. This time of a much much older figure, Queen's Blade Nanael Excellent Model, 1/8 Scale, from MegaHouse.  Released way back in 2008, Nanael and many other figures in the line can be easily found in Amiami's pre-owned section for bargain-bin prices, and maybe understandably so. They're a bit simplistic by modern standards, but that doesn't mean there isn't still a lot of enjoyment to be had from displaying these older figures. In the Queen's Blade OVA Nanael's job is to observe fights for contenders in the Queen's Blade tournament or something like that. It's not a great show even for the copious amounts of fan service, but it does have  a lot of really cool character designs and of course all their clothing gets shredded off whenever they fight so it's worth checking out if you're into the fantasy genre and can put up with a shallow plot

Winter Wonfes 2020 Personal Highlights

Well it's been a while since my last post but I'm still here and still excited about figures. Things have just been very busy between holidays and lots of travel and work, but I'm hoping to get back to figure reviews soon. Until then, I'm sure if you're on this site you're aware that Winter Wonder Festival has just happened in Japan and tons of new figures have been previewed! So many, in fact, that it would jsut be way too much work to go through all the ones I'm excited about here. To keep things brief, I've decided to narrow it down to the 5 that I'm most excited about. On top of that, I'm sticking to figures that are at least sculpted, although there are TONS that have just concept art right now that I'm excited for as well. 5)  Good Smile Company - Pyra and Mythra - Re-release Big news from the show that Pyra and Mythra (aka. Homura and Hikari) from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are being re-released! I passed on them last time around b
