Elf Village 4th Villager Priscilla 1/6 Scale (Vertex) Pre-Orders Open

Seems like a lot of amazing looking figures are going up for pre-order during my holiday break from work, and while I've managed to avoid pre-ordering ALL of them, Vertex has come and put my 2020 budget into a bit of a deficit already with the latest entry in their Elf Village series of original character figures.

Priscilla, the 4th character in the series, is an extremely thicc traveling priestess with a body that would make even Super Sonico feel jealous. It didn't take long looking at the product images to cement my pre-order. All I needed to decide was weather or not I would get Antenna Shop Limited edition on Amiami or take advantage of the new year points promotion on TOM for the regular edition. Before I get into that, let's take a closer look at her.

Looking at her from a few sides it looks like she'll have a good range of possible display angles depending on what you want to see on your shelf. Her improbably large bust and rear and are just barely covered by a few strips of cloth, which based on the images and also the previous elf village figures will all be removable.

The paint and sculpting on the blue fabric covering her tummy looks really nice. I love the transparent effect there that makes it look like it's clinging to her skin. I also really appreciate the little fang sticking out from the corner of her teeth. They've really managed to create a fun expression on this model.

It looks like quite a lot of her outfit will be removable, and at least some of it will be possible without exposing her breasts, which depending on how you keep your displays is a nice touch. I can see myself just keeping her chest covered but removing everything else, but I'm sure I'll play around with the different options. They tease those with some shots here, and I really hope that this time it's just to get people amped up to pre-order the figure and not to cover up the frankly disappointing and weird nipples on the 1st figure in the series. I'll go back and cover that figure on the site eventually, as it's one of my favorites, but it wasn't perfect.

The Antenna Shop Limited edition comes with interchangeable face, bangs, and feet. I really like the bare feet and blunt bangs parts, but am less crazy about the facial expression and the grass base since I skipped the base on the 1st figure and don't think the parts are altogether worth the markup. She's already pretty expensive at 17,700 JPY after discounts, but 24,200 JPY for the limited version is just too much for me. I wound up ordering her on TOM because of the 30x points promotion, existing points allowing me to reduce the price to around $150 for free shipping, and the fact that she'll ship directly from Japan on time and not be subject to the normal TOM shipping delay.  If you're thinking about getting her and haven't tried shopping with TOM before, this is one of those times where I think it's worth it.  Please consider using my referral link and helping me out, too!

She's out in June 2020!

Date A Live - Kurumi Tokisaki - 1/7 - Lingerie Ver.- Figure Review

I'm back with another figure review! This time it's another character I know nothing about really. Honestly, I had to google her name a few times to make sure I had it right and looking at it now I'm still not entirely sure. Apparently she is from a series called Date A Live. What I do know is that Kurumi Tokisaki is a very popular character who has had a lot of merchandise and several figures, though looking back it seems that many of them were from the infamously bad and now defunct Griffon Enterprises.  More recently she has started to get figures from better manufacturers like Alter and this superlative figure from Alphamax.. Normally Kurumi appears in a red and black gothic lolita style dress that I always thought had a certain saloon girl flare to it, but here it seems we've caught her in a more intimate moment. It's quite the outfit, consisting of a corset, garter belt, stockings, bonnet, some ribbons and high-heels. She's striking a prett

Faerie Queen Elaine Standard Ver. 1/5 Scale (Native) - Figure Review

It feels like a lifetime ago that I posted a preview for this figure once it was announced by Native. The world was definitely in a different place then, and perhaps I was as well in regards to this website and also the figure hobby in general. The past year has seen a real slow down in my figure acquisitions, for budgetary reasons and also logistical problems around shipping from Japan. I did still receive a couple of figures however, and Faerie Queen Elaine based on the original character illustration by Tony Taka was one of them.  Just a heads up, in a previous NSFW review I had the castoff pics on a separate linked page but here they're just further down on this page. I remember posting the promotional shots on reddit after she was released, and there and also on MFC people were pretty indifferent to both this figure and Tony's art. They said it was boring and too simplistic, and at the time I too thought maybe this figure was a little plain, however I did not know how wr

Tokyo Otaku Mode - Shop Review

Hello again! Today I would like to do the first of what I expect will be a series of shop reviews covering the best shops to order anime figures and other goods from if you live in the United States.  There are a lot of options when it comes to shops to buy from, so I hope this information can be useful to both new and veteran collectors.  The first shop I'll be talking about is one that I've been shopping with A LOT over the past two years or so: Tokyo Otaku Mode .  My hope is to answer the following question for you: Is Tokyo Otaku Mode a good shop to order anime figures from? The things that most stand out when going to this store are the frequent TOM point promotions and the at first glance high prices of the items. I know that for a year or two after first seeing the site I would wonder about those two things. What are these TOM points, exactly? Why the heck are the prices on this site so high? Well, it turns out there's good reasons for both of those things and e
