So this is the first of what will eventually be many cast off galleries on this site, considering my ever growing collection of cast off figs. Basically all of them are displayed with their clothes on all the time, but when given the option I still always buy the cast off version if multiple versions are available, such as with Skytube/Alphamax's figures. Also, with some manufacturers such as Native it's just a given that a figure will have cast off options, so there's no choice but to buy them.
Anyway, let's look at Nanael here and see how she is with her dress off. I actually think she looks a lot better this way! No surprises there, but without the weird finish on her dress, the really nice paint job on her skin has a chance to shine.
You can see here that she does have something of an unsightly seam around her neck, but this is common figures and normally you wouldn't notice it. I really love the sculpting on her body. For such an old figure I think she looks great, with really nice proportions and realistic sculpting on her breasts and panties.
She has a bit of "boob shine," which is a term I've seen thrown around for a bit of wear that can occur on figures. If I recall correctly, I did buy her from Amiami's pre-owned section, so she probably was displayed for a bit and the previous owner must have put her dress on and off a few times, resulting in some rubbing that produced this shine on her boobs. It's not a big deal, and could probably be corrected with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, but I would be a little worried about rubbing too hard and ruining the paint.
Again, for an older figure, they did a great job. The sculpting on her back and butt are great. The shading on her skin is really good. No complaints here. They would release this figure today for $110 so $30 seems like a steal.
Really nice subtle shading, paint, and sculpting on her nipples here. Honestly some of the best I've seen on any figure.
Overall I am really happy with the cast off options for Nanael. I should note that unlike other figures I own she is very easy to cast off, and doesn't require a bunch of fiddling with tough to fit parts or anything like that. I know a lot of figure collectors are on a budget, and can't afford all the crazy expensive figures that are coming out right now, so if that sounds like you, don't neglect these older figures from well known manufacturers. For what are basically prize figure prices you can get some nice stuff.
