Dark Elf Village 1st Villager Natigal 1/6 Scale (Vertex) Pre-Orders Open 3/26/21

Vertex has finally revealed the images for the first figure in their upcoming original character series, Dark Elf Village. This villager, named Natigal, looks to be modeled after the dancer archetype common in many fantasy JRPGs. I think she looks pretty cool except for her face, which has kind of an odd expression. Generally the Antenna Shop limited edition variants have had alternate faces, so I'm hopeful that the alternate face will be an improvement, but either way this is one of my more anticipated figures of the past couple of years so I will either be ordering the standard version from TOM to close out my points (since they have basically butchered their free shipping promo and made it pointless to shop at their site now) or from Amiami to get the limited version with the (hopefully) better face. This looks to be a really cool start to a new line of elf figures, and honestly I'm ready for a change because the as of yet un-released elves from the standard Elf Village line don't look that appealing to me.

UPDATE 3/25/21

Vertex has added the pictures for the limited version, which include an alternate face and different base. These have been kind of overpriced in the past, in my opinion, but considering how much better the face is it will be worth it to start off the Dark Elf Village collection with the limited version. Also included is a A3 size tapestry. This is a beautiful and dynamic figure that I hope will look wonderful next to my Bikini Warriors Dark Elf figure. I don't think the scale will be quite right, but none of the Elf Village figures are really in scale with each other anyway, which is unfortunate but a reality that has to be dealt with in figure displays.

I'm hoping that the castoff parts secure easily and without much fidgeting, as I found Priscilla (a previous Elf Village figure) kind of difficult to display properly. The chest pieces do look like they will stick on via an adhesive similar to the first Elf Village figure, though I am holding out some hope that they use magnets or just a design that allows them to stay on by tension or friction.

Date A Live - Kurumi Tokisaki - 1/7 - Lingerie Ver.- Figure Review

I'm back with another figure review! This time it's another character I know nothing about really. Honestly, I had to google her name a few times to make sure I had it right and looking at it now I'm still not entirely sure. Apparently she is from a series called Date A Live. What I do know is that Kurumi Tokisaki is a very popular character who has had a lot of merchandise and several figures, though looking back it seems that many of them were from the infamously bad and now defunct Griffon Enterprises.  More recently she has started to get figures from better manufacturers like Alter and this superlative figure from Alphamax.. Normally Kurumi appears in a red and black gothic lolita style dress that I always thought had a certain saloon girl flare to it, but here it seems we've caught her in a more intimate moment. It's quite the outfit, consisting of a corset, garter belt, stockings, bonnet, some ribbons and high-heels. She's striking a prett

Faerie Queen Elaine Standard Ver. 1/5 Scale (Native) - Figure Review

It feels like a lifetime ago that I posted a preview for this figure once it was announced by Native. The world was definitely in a different place then, and perhaps I was as well in regards to this website and also the figure hobby in general. The past year has seen a real slow down in my figure acquisitions, for budgetary reasons and also logistical problems around shipping from Japan. I did still receive a couple of figures however, and Faerie Queen Elaine based on the original character illustration by Tony Taka was one of them.  Just a heads up, in a previous NSFW review I had the castoff pics on a separate linked page but here they're just further down on this page. I remember posting the promotional shots on reddit after she was released, and there and also on MFC people were pretty indifferent to both this figure and Tony's art. They said it was boring and too simplistic, and at the time I too thought maybe this figure was a little plain, however I did not know how wr

Tokyo Otaku Mode - Shop Review

Hello again! Today I would like to do the first of what I expect will be a series of shop reviews covering the best shops to order anime figures and other goods from if you live in the United States.  There are a lot of options when it comes to shops to buy from, so I hope this information can be useful to both new and veteran collectors.  The first shop I'll be talking about is one that I've been shopping with A LOT over the past two years or so: Tokyo Otaku Mode .  My hope is to answer the following question for you: Is Tokyo Otaku Mode a good shop to order anime figures from? The things that most stand out when going to this store are the frequent TOM point promotions and the at first glance high prices of the items. I know that for a year or two after first seeing the site I would wonder about those two things. What are these TOM points, exactly? Why the heck are the prices on this site so high? Well, it turns out there's good reasons for both of those things and e
